Each member in Flickorna Fem holds a close connection with Sweden:

Christine Albertsson

Christine has sung with numerous choirs from a very young age.  She has studied voice as well as piano and flute. If pushed she will even pick up the accordion! Christine's family has been in the US since 1957.  She has maintained an active interest in her Swedish identity, is a dual citizen and speaks Swedish fluently.  She continues to draw inspiration from Scandinavian themes in her practice as a residential architect.

Elisabeth Skoglund

Elisabeth, a native Swede who came to America in 1985, lends her valuable knowledge of the Swedish traditions to the group. Music has always been important to her and she has sung with many different choirs and as a soloist.  She has studied voice, piano and organ and as a youth worked as an organist in the churches of her home parish.  Elisabeth works for an insurance company and enjoys spending time in her cabin "up north".

Carline Bengtsson

Carline’s marriage to a Swede sealed her love for the country, and she now travels there frequently and speaks the language fluently. Born in Jamaica, she moved to Minnesota as a youth. She has been involved with music most of her life, in particular voice, and is actively involved in the local fine arts community. Carline works for Medtronic, Inc., the world’s leading medical technology company.

Malla Corbett

Malla, raised in Stockholm, left Sweden in 1994 to marry the love of her life.  Malla plays the flute and before bringing her talents to the U.S., sang and danced in the Swedish folk tradition for many years. She also brought her passion for Swedish handicrafts, incl. knitting, spinning, weaving, sewing, etc. which she happily shares with anyone interested. In addition to raising her son, Malla works as a homeopath and also likes growing healthy foods in her garden.

Nina Clark

Nina, born in New England to an American father and Swedish mother, has maintained a close connection to Sweden with visits to her many relatives.  Musically, Nina has been active in many choral groups.  For two years she was the assistant director of the Sancta Lucia chorus at the American Swedish Institute.  Nina is in charge of programs and exhibits at the American Swedish Institute.
